MASTERS OF BUSINESS
In this monthly series I ask self employed people to talk about what lessons they have learned,
what practices are important and what advice they have for others who are “Out there on their own”.
Today’s episode features Mr. Mark Baker of Perth Health. Mark has been self employed for 15 years
in the Health products industry and has some very pertinent advice for anyone in business with a
product to market.

MASTERS OF BUSINESS
Featuring Mr Mark Baker of Perth Health.
To paraphrase the Hoodoo Gurus 1000 miles away, ” It can be as lonely at the top as at the bottom of the corporate tree”. Being in business for yourself isn’t easy and we all have our own reasons for “going out on our own”.
In this series I ask local self employed people what lessons they have learned, what important practices they use to be successful and what they would pass onto others.
QUESTIONS;
1)What are the top three lessons you have learnt in the 15 years you have been in business?
2) Can you name three essential elements or practices that you use to keep the business running?
3) If you could offer someone that is self employed any advice, what would it be ?
The most common mistake I see is people launching products or moving into a market niche because it’s what THEY like. It’s what your target wants that matters. So, listen to them and try to supply products/services that meet their needs at a price they are willing to pay.
